London-born Welshman Josh Croft and Brisbane born Bailey Greer like so many of their friends and peers met through the internet, back in 2014. SoundCloud provided the platform for such a meeting, and their friendship quickly developed over a mutual appreciation for all things musical, with a particular love for UK garage. The pair released their debut ‘Cloudfish’ EP the following year on Silent Audio. The writing partnership began to blossom, and before long these star-crossed producers eloped, with Bailey eventually leaving his homeland of Australia for Cambridge, all in the name of music.
Home to one of the UK’s most prestigious universities, Cambridge has also played an important role developing and nurturing a plethora of dnb talent over the last 30 years. Boasting pioneers like Nu:Tone, Commix and Logistics alongside newer names like Hugh Hardie and Inja, the revered and learned city would act as a dojo for the young duo. They played their first gig at Hospitality In The Park in 2017 and soon the bookings began to roll in. By 2019 they had crossed some weighty events and venues off of the bucket list, including Fabric, Hospitality On The Beach, Sun & Bass and more. Alongside Nu:Tone and Logistics in February 2019 they helped revive the weekly Spoonfed events at Fez club in Cambridge’s city centre, feeding the grassroots need for midweek dnb.
In 2020 the boys brought us their 16-track debut album ‘Voyager’ - a seriously accomplished project, featuring the talents of Lucy Kitchen, Carasel, Walk:r, Mistrust, and the mighty Logistics. The record displayed their penchant for soothing soundscapes, futuristic flourishes and luscious layering, which permeate whichever subgenre they set out to conquer. Following in the heavy footsteps of Pola & Bryson, the two carved out their own Freshman record to be treasured on dancefloors, wax and headphones alike. ‘Voyager’ shows just how their sound encompases the depths of the scene and received support from veteran artists like Ray Keith, Technimatic and Etherwood.
Their back catalogue spans an impressive list of labels, including Silent Audio, Spearhead, Med School, Hospital and Soulvent Records. With over 15 releases under their belt, the future is more than bright for this young pair, who show zero signs of slowing down..
