About this Event
This is a fun, creative and experimental Abstract Landscapes Art workshop, suitable for both beginners and students who have already attended our previous art courses and workshops. You will be under the professional supervision of our artist and tutor Marina.
Abstract Landscape Art merges natural scenery with abstract techniques, using colour, form and texture to evoke emotion rather than realistic depiction.
The aim is to convey the mood, feelings or personal interpretation of a scene from nature, rather than a photographic representation.
It translates the essence, atmosphere and sensory experience of a place through simplified shapes, bold brushstrokes and non-realistic colour pallets.
Artists often use layerd, textured, geometric or gestural marks to represent elements like water, trees or sky.
The abstract landscape is a non-objective art , so viewers have the freedom of interpretation, allowing for the personal connection to the artwork.
The abstract painting style emerged in the early 20th century, influenced by artists like Wassily Kandinsky and later the Abstract Expressionists.
We will be taking an inspiration from these artists, and learning about composition, colour balance and light. Also, we are going to cover the basics acrylic painting techniques before we start painting on the canvas or canvas board.
What materials do l need?
You will need a set of acrylic paints, brushes suitable for acrylics, a palette, palette painting knives, two or three jars for water, some kitchen paper, larger canvas or a canvas board, a good quality watercolour paper or a small canvas board (to practice the acrylic painting techniques before painting on the larger size canvas).
