World Music Encounters is a groundbreaking, nonprofit music series in the heart of downtown Austin featuring local and regional musicians who hail from the Americas, Asia, Europe, and Africa. General seating is $25 per person; premium tickets, $35; student tickets, $15. Garage parking is free and families are welcome.


Presented by St. David's Episcopal Church, the series aims to connect the community to, and through, global music and conversations. We offer this series as a gift to the community as well as an opportunity to expand our cultural understanding and global consciousness.

• Two-hour event includes interview segment with the artists about their musical roots and personal journey to Austin
• Sunday evening performances in St. David’s newly renovated 170-year-old sanctuary in the heart of downtown Austin

09.22.24 – A'lante Flamenco, Austin-based, award-winning flamenco company

11.17.24 – Abou Sylla & Bramaya, 11.17.24 – Abou Sylla & Bramaya, Austin-based West African drum and dance troupe

02.02.25 – Javier Chaparro & Salud, Latin jazz from South America, with stylings ranging from Antonio Carlos Jobim to Yo Yo Ma

04.27.25 – Exclusive performance of Japanese traditional and contemporary masters of the shakuhachi, the bamboo flute




The concert series, presented last year in partnership with the Downtown Austin Alliance and KUT/KUTX, takes place in the soaring sanctuary at , located at 8th and San Jacinto, which has been a sought-after venue for live music acts over the years. The renovated, 170-year-old sacred space is one of the oldest Protestant churches in Texas. Last year, St. David’s celebrated its 175th anniversary as a congregation.
