About this Event
This training is proudly presented by WA Centre for Rural Health.
You will learn how to assist an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander adult who may be experiencing a mental health problem or mental health crisis until appropriate professional help is received or the crisis resolves, using a practical, evidence based action plan.
This two-day workshop is facilitated by WA Centre for Rural Health (WACRH) Associate Lecturer Annette McVicar who works in Aboriginal Community Engagement. Annette is a Mununjali and Minjungbal woman from Yugambeh Country. Annette has extensive experience in Aboriginal Cultural Education and Training.
The training is open to community members and health service providers that work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Both days of the training must be attended.
The program has been well evaluated both in workplace and community settings and is found to be effective in improving mental health literacy, reducing stigma and increasing helping behaviours.
Cost: $100.00 per participant, payable by invoice. This cost includes the training manual.
A light morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea will be provided.
