We're delighted to welcome Loreen and Jovan to Afrobeats Dance Boston!!
Growing up in a Caribbean household, Loreen is no stranger to the sounds of music and rhythms of dance. She started dancing at the age of three, taking foundational classes in Ballet, Tap, and Jazz, which have helped to shape her understanding of body movement and technique. She continued her dance journey through high school and college, exploring modern dance, West African dance, Latin dance, Sevillanas, and choreography technique. In 2018, Loreen took her first Kizomba class and instantly knew it would be her dance style of choice. In Loreen’s classes, foundation is always at the core, with a focus on the basic steps, how the body moves, and the concept of connection.
Jovan “Casanova” is an international DJ, instructor, emcee, and cultural leader in the global Kizomba and Afro-dance movement. A Boston native of Haitian decent, he has been shaping the international dance scene since 2011, and is the founder of The Golden Standard, one of the most recognized brands in the industry. Known for his elite musical curation, commanding crowd presence, and world-class professionalism, Casanova is a premier headlining artist trusted by top festivals and congresses across Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Americas.
