Explore the wonderful world of birds at Abberton in this family-friendly event. Take a walk around the reserve to discover more about the identities, habitats, and adaptations of bird species at Abberton Reservoir. Use binoculars at the bird hides and put your skills to the test, creating your own mini bird spotter's guide.

🌳Will we be outside?
Yes, we will be outside for the whole session, so please dress appropriately for the outdoors. There is an outdoor shelter to provide some cover.
🎒What shall I bring?
We recommend bringing snacks to the session, as children get hungry! Wellies and puddle suits are a great idea if you have them. The children will likely play with the mud kitchen and puddles, so wear something you don't mind getting muddy.
🌍Where are you based?
We are based in North Essex, local to Colchester.
🚗 Is there parking?
Yes, there is plenty of parking at the Nature Discovery Park.
👶Can I bring a buggy/pushchair?
Yes, the shelter has ramp access, and all the routes we may take on our adventure are accessible
🚾Is there a toilet?
There is access to toilets in the visitor centre, including baby changing in the disabled toilet
☕Is there a café or a shop?
Yes, there is a café selling hot and cold drinks, a selection of sandwiches, cakes, and snacks.
👨👩👧👦Can younger or older siblings attend?
For children younger than 18 months, you are welcome to bring them along as well and do not need to book a ticket for them. For older siblings, we are happy to have them - if you think they would like to participate though, please purchase a ticket for them too.
