Ellis Court - The Regeneration of Dublin Corporation's First Social Housing
The conference will feature an in-depth case study presentation on the design and construction of Ellis Court, a social housing refurbishment project located at Benburb Street in Dublin’s inner city.
Originating from the late 19th Century, Ellis Court was constructed as part of a wider social housing development that stood as Dublin Corporation’s first endeavour into the delivery of purpose built social housing.
This regeneration project reflects a significant commitment to revitalizing the area, offering high-quality, affordable homes to local residents. Upon its completion in December 2022, Ellis Court introduced a total of 19 modern apartments and 3 terraced houses, blending contemporary design with functionality.
The design and delivery process for this development encapsulates many of the core values of the practice, including the delivery of social housing, reuse of existing historic building fabric, creating community and sustainability.
COADY Architects is a design and socially driven architectural practice, first established in 1987. As place makers, the practice has a keen focus on people and communities, to create spaces that improve people’s daily lives.
