About this Event
A Young Men’s Summit is designed to convene Nashville around the growing crisis of disconnection impacting boys and young men — and to position Cumberland Heights as a central community leader in strengthening support systems. This is not simply a film screening. The intent is to:
- Elevate awareness of increasing isolation, disengagement, and mental health risk among young men
- Create cross-sector dialogue between providers, schools, parents, and community leaders
- Move the community from awareness to actionable local solutions
- An extension for the Nashville Adolescent Symposium on 9/23/2026
Across the country — and here in Nashville — boys and young men are experiencing increasing levels of isolation, disengagement, and emotional distress. A Young Men’s Summit: Addressing the Crisis of Disconnection brings our community together to confront this growing challenge and build stronger systems of support for our sons. Featuring a screening of Gone Guys and a live panel of young adults, clinicians, educators, and suicide prevention leaders, the summit will move beyond awareness to meaningful local action.
Your support helps us convene parents, providers, schools, and community leaders in one room to have the conversations many families don’t realize they need to have. Funds raised will offset venue costs, secure the film, provide resource materials, and ensure strong community participation. Most importantly, your investment strengthens access to life-saving supports for young men right here in Middle Tennessee.
About the Film View the Trailer
Over the past fifty years, boys and young men have steadily disengaged from school, work, andbroader society. They’re falling behind academically, struggling with loneliness and isolation, andfacing rising rates of substance abuse and suicide. This 45-minute documentary draws on the influential work of Richard V. Reeves’ “Of Boys andMen”, illuminating these challenges through powerful data and compelling personal stories. Manyof us have experienced these issues first-hand, but it can be difficult to talk about them. It’s not aneither-or choice: caring more about boys and men does not mean caring less about women andgirls.Set in rural Vermont, the film brings national data to life with engaging animation accompanyinglived experience featuring young men, educators, mentors, and trailblazing programs that areworking to re-engage boys and young men in their communities and reshape their futures
