In his next event as the University of Edinburgh's Writer in Residence, Michael Pedersen will be in conversation with comedian, author and presenter, Lou Sanders. Together, they will discuss Lou's 2023 memoir, What's That Lady Doing?
This event will be followed by a signing, with books provided on the night from Lighthouse Books.
About the speakers<h4>Lou Sanders</h4>
Lou Sanders is one of Britain’s most original comedians. In 2023, Lou released her first book What’s That Lady Doing?: a memoir about stories of shame, guilt and growing up. The book received wide acclaim and was described as “moving, hilarious and generally astonishing” by The Guardian.
An internationally-acclaimed stand-up comedian, Lou has toured her live shows to packed houses across the world and regularly receives rave reviews. She has also been named a top comedian to see by publications including The Guardian, The Scotsman, The List & more.
She co-hosts Mel Giedroyc’s Unforgivable, is a previous Taskmaster champion, and she frequently co-hosts live radio shows with names including John Robins, Elis James and Ed Gamble.
<h4>Michael Pedersen</h4>Michael Pedersen is the Writer in Residence at the University of Edinburgh from September 2023 until June 2025, as well as the Edinburgh Makar. His prose debut Boy Friends was published by Faber & Faber in 2022 to rave reviews and was a Sunday Times Critics Choice. A recipient of the Robert Louis Stevenson Fellowship, his third poetry collection The Cat Prince was published by Little Brown in 2023—the title poem of which is currently shortlisted for the Forward Prizes for Poetry. Pedersen has also been shortlisted for the Forward Prizes for Poetry and won a Robert Louis Stevenson Fellowship.
