A Tuscan Wild Game Dinner
About this Event

The ancient Romans would say, “Lux in tenebris” or “Light shines in the darkness.” Beautiful music, exquisite food and wine enjoyed together is a way of pushing back against the darkness of our time.

I hope you can join us for a light filled Wheatland Concert Series Chamber Music Recital and Dinner on December 7th starting at 6 pm. We are featuring acclaimed soprano Ms. Kerry Holahan performing selections from Handel’s Messiah, as well as works by Henry Purcell, Chiara Cozzolani, Philipp Fredrich Boddecker and Arcangelo Corelli. Professor Mark Janello and Ms. Gracie Carney will return to Shiloh to provide harpsichord and Baroque violin accompaniment. It is an amazing program!

Chef Erik is presenting a Tuscan wild game dinner, featuring Mezzaluna di Coniglio, ravioli filled with stewed rabbit, served with caramelized carrot purée and carrot butter, followed by Arrosto di Alce con salsa di mirtilli, tender roast Elk strip loin, with a blueberry sauce, served on a bed of polenta with sweet and sour cipollini onions and roasted mushrooms. For dessert we are serving a delectable Panna Cotta, the Italian cousin (or some say inspiration for?) Crème Brûlée. A scrumptious vegetarian option is also available upon request. The meal is paired with a fine Italian Chianti.

Soprano Kerry Holahan is acclaimed for her versatility and interpretation of Renaissance and Baroque music. She has performed with both the American Bach Soloists in San Francisco and Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, and recently debuted with Grammy-winning vocal ensemble Seraphic Fire at the Aspen Music Festival, as well as the 21st Century Consort and the Folger Consort in Washington, D.C. Kerry is a staff singer at St. John’s Church, Lafayette Square and regularly appears with the Washington National Cathedral Choir. Kerry is fluent in Mandarin and is one of the few American sopranos actively singing Chinese traditional and contemporary works both in the United States and China. Kerry earned a BA in East Asian Studies from Wesleyan University; a Master of Music, Early Music Vocal Performance from the Peabody Conservatory; as well as a Vocal Performance Diploma, with Distinction, from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, UK.

I hope you can join us for this amazing finale of our 2024 Baroque Chamber Music series and celebrate the blessings of the season together!
