For any aspiring and serious blues guitarist from the 60's forward there was no escaping Freddie King's three brilliant instrumental albums "Let's Hide Away and Dance Away" (1961) "Freddie King Goes Surfing" (1963) and "Freddie King Gives You A Bonanza Of Instrumentals" (1965).So many of us cut our teeth on these records, and the younger generations have revered them as well.
“Man, we should just put together a gig and do nothing but Freddie instrumentals, hell we know pretty much all of them front to back!"
What began as a Facebook wisecrack between Pete Kanaras and Scott Mattern soon blew up and other friends chimed in saying "Hey count me in too!".
But then Pete thought "hmm you know what, nobody's ever done this before!" And so here we are, and we're actually gonna do it!!
