A TOAST & TRAID Clothes Swapping Event at the Barbican

explores a garment's life beyond its first wearer. During our pop up at the Barbican we invite you to swap any cherished item in your wardrobe for another.

Bring up to five worn garments, regardless of the brand, to trade for tokens. The TOAST team will assess each item to ensure its condition meets our Exchange criteria. After receiving a token in exchange for each piece, you can browse the pre-worn rails and exchange them for others to cherish and take home.

Each item features a story label detailing its history from the previous wearer and dedicated swap slots will create a relaxed environment for browsing and exchange.
How does it work?

• Bring up to 5 pre-worn garments. This should be something you once valued that you think could be enjoyed by someone else. Please consider whether you would be happy to pass this item on to someone else.
  

• Complete a story label detailing the story of your garment, or how and where you’ve worn it.
  
• Items will be assessed for damage by the TOAST & TRAID team on arrival before being displayed on the rails.
  
• Once you have handed over your clothes, you will receive a token in exchange for each of your garments. The token will be based on condition and Recommended Retail Price (RRP), as decided by our Team.
  
• There will be five token tiers: up to £50, £ 51-£100 , £101-£150, £ 151-£250 and over £250
  
• Tokens are only valid and redeemable during the swapping event. After the event, they do not hold any value.
  
• Dedicated swap slots will create a relaxed environment in which you will be able to explore the curated rails of pre-worn garments and trade your token to find new garments of the same tier.
  
• Any items remaining at the end of the event will be donated to our charity partner, TRAID.
  What can you swap?
  
• You can swap up to 5 pre-worn garments that have been well cared for (free of faults or minor repairs such as rips, holes and stains). All items will be assessed using the TOAST Exchange Swapping Guide.
  

• We will not be able to accept any clothes that are damaged. The TOAST team can refuse any items brought to the event that do not meet the Exchange criteria.
  
• Adult clothing only.
  
• Garments must be clean and ironed.
