Join us for this presentation by Matthew Taylor, award-winning landscape architect and heritage practioner.
Matthew will discuss the historical context and built outcomes of three nationally significant memorials that he has designed:
- Kokoda Track Memorial Walkway at Concord on the banks of the Parramatta River in Sydney
- Australian Corps Memorial at Le Hamel in the Somme, France
- ANZAC Commemorative site at Gallipoli, Turkey
He'll explore the political context of the time of memorial making and the design influences that inspired him.
We'll discover the distinctive geographical context of the memorials and diverse design and the resulting landscape outcomes.
About our presenter
Matthew Taylor B.A. M.A., M.AILA, has over 35 years’ experience as a landscape architect and conservation landscape architect. He has specialist expertise in heritage landscapes, master planning, residential subdivisions and the adaptive reuse of former heritage-listed industrial sites. His work has been recognised in a number of design awards here and overseas.
