Step into the world of Regency elegance in this fascinating lecture on the rediscovery and restoration of John Constable’s portraits of society figure Mrs. Emily Treslove and her husband, Thomas.On 3 June 2026 from 5:45pm to 8pm, Art restorer Sarah Cove reveals how Emily’s appearance was subtly “enhanced” during a second sitting, drawing on her own restoration work and rare access to personal diaries.
Sarah Cove ACR is an accredited paintings conservator-restorer, technical art historian and lecturer, specialising in British art and leading authority on Constable’s oil painting materials and techniques.

We invite you to view the portraits that Sarah will be talking about in the WAG from 5.45pm followed by drinks in the Lower Tudor Room. The talk will be held in the Great Hall followed by an opportunity to ask questions.
