About this Event
Join Regional Plan Association and New York City Housing Authority for a Climate Week panel on how the nation’s largest housing authority is integrating sustainability into its work to upgrade housing quality.
As NYCHA works to maintain its developments and ensure their long-term viability, it must also work to prepare its buildings for a changing climate and comply with new policies aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions. This challenge presents a unique opportunity — to decarbonize and prepare whole campuses with the latest energy and resiliency technology, while providing quality, affordable housing for approximately 1 in 17 New Yorkers.
Siobhan Watson, Senior Director of Sustainability within NYCHA’s Asset and Capital Management Division, will lead the panel discussion covering NYCHA’s successes and challenges implementing innovative climate solutions at its properties, with a focus on strategies that leverage NYCHA’s specific site conditions, building typologies, and scale.
