Through the eyes of a Tseltal family in Chiapas, Mexico, the film draws a vivid connection between a small coffee-growing cooperative in the highlands and the bustling specialty coffee scene of Seattle, USA. As our characters navigate the complex, often contradictory standards of “quality” in the specialty coffee world, an unstoppable threat looms: coffee leaf rust, a devastating fungus creeping north from South America. Its advance could spell the end of coffee as we know it across the entire continent.
