A Savage Silence is a locally made, ultra-low budget independent Irish film rooted in the Midlands.Based on the novel by Rory Hafford, the film explores relationship breakdown, betrayal, and the challenge of finding a new way forward. Told in a deliberately pared-back, reflective style, it focuses on emotional truth over polish.
The cast is made up primarily of young Midlands-based actors aged 14–22, many of whom were involved across multiple aspects of the production. Music plays a central role, featuring tracks from Rory Hafford’s albums Savage Sounds and Remember, the latter of which was named Album of the Week on RTÉ Lyric FM’s Marty in the Morning
The film premiered in Mullingar in October 2025 and has since received positive audience response and international festival recognition.
The screening will be followed by a post-film discussion with filmmaker Darragh O’Rourke.
