Sappho Queers is organising a Queer poetry reading and a workshop on Soul-crafting for Queer population of Newcastle and Hunter region. We are delighted to have Black Crow Walking, the creator and designer of the Workshop. Soul Crafting is a quiet, creative practice where making becomes a form of listening. Using magazine images pieced together and glued onto cardboard, participants create intuitively rather than deliberately. As the image takes shape, it begins to speak — offering symbols, feelings, and quiet insights. We then engage with the image by asking it intuitive questions, listening for what it reflects back. Soul crafting is not about skill or outcome, but about meeting yourself in the act of creation and trusting the wisdom that emerges through images, hands, and presence.
Let's bring our poetry, a plate to share and our creative Queer self to enjoy the craft moment. There will also be a sharing about the craft experience and what it taught the individual about themselves.
