Jan Wagner recently turned 85. The exhibition ‘Een Terugblik’ (A retrospective) is a selection of drawings and paintings that he made in the period 1965-2025. Wagner underwent a gradual artistic development from figurative representation to abstraction.
In addition to being a visual artist Wagner is also a writer. In 2024 he wrote his biographical retrospective ‘Kroniek van een Rotterdamse tekenaar’ (Chronicle of a Rotterdam draughtsman). This chronicle together with the exhibition sheds light on a complete artist’s life.
