About this Event
This workshop is open to all skill levels and aims to empower participants who wish to craft their narrative poetically.
Learn some tips and tricks on how to excavate your truths safely, how to distill concrete statements into liquid gold with poetic devices, and the dos and don'ts of how to perform it (should you choose to do so at some point). Part discussion, part writing workshop, all-encompassing sojourn into why you're worthy of being heard and how it's just a matter of finding your voice.
Andre Prefontaine is a national, regional, and local Poetry Slam legend with seven national championships to his name. He was Canada's representative for the 2017 World Cup of Poetry Slam in Paris, France where he missed the podium by a hair and placed fourth. His poem, "Dear, Edith Piaf", was published in "Flicker and Sparkle", North America's leading Queer anthology of poetry, in 2013. He's currently working on his novel, "The Great Phagliacci: the world of a sad, gay clown".
