A Dove's Song is an evening of story sharing, witness, and collective healing honoring the lives of missing and murdered indigenous women.
About this Event

A Dove’s Song: Remembering Our Way Home is a powerful evening of Playback Theatre, community storytelling, and healing arts dedicated to honoring the lives of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and People (MMIW/P).

Playback Theatre is an interactive form of theater where audience members are invited to share moments, memories, and reflections. Skilled actors and musicians then bring these stories to life on stage in the moment, creating a moving experience of witnessing, connection, and collective healing.

This gathering is rooted in the belief that art can open spaces where grief, remembrance, truth, and healing can coexist.

Through story, music, and embodied performance, we create a sacred space to:

• Honor the lives of Indigenous women and people whose voices have been silenced
• Acknowledge the deep impact of this ongoing crisis
• Witness and hold stories from the community
• Use the healing arts to restore connection and remembrance

This event is part of the Sharing Through Art Heals initiative, bringing together artists, community members, and advocates to create meaningful dialogue and healing through creative expression.

Together we gather not only to remember, but to reclaim our shared humanity and remember our way home to one another.

Stories carry memory. Re-membering carries truth. Truth, when honored through witnessing, becomes a healing path home.

A Dove’s Song is an invitation to listen deeply, honor lives, and participate in a collective movement toward healing and awareness.

You can expect a powerful Playback Theater performance in a supportive and respectful community atmosphere where there is shared space for reflection, remembrance, and healing. Participation in storytelling is completely optional. No experience is required.

This event welcomes:

• Community members
• Artists, creatives, healers, social activists, educators
• Those passionate about social justice and Indigenous rights
• Individuals interested in healing arts and storytelling
• Anyone wishing to witness and honor these lives with respect and care

May 5 is recognized across the United States and Canada as the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and People (MMIW/P). This day honors the lives of Indigenous women, girls, Two-Spirit, and Indigenous people whose disappearances and deaths have too often gone unnoticed, uninvestigated, or underreported.

Indigenous communities and allies gather on May 5 to remember those who are missing, honor those who were taken, and bring visibility to a crisis that continues to affect families and communities across North America.

Red has become the symbolic color of the movement—representing both remembrance and the presence of those whose voices can no longer be heard.

Through ceremonies, storytelling, art, and community gatherings, May 5 is a day to lift up awareness, support Indigenous-led advocacy, and commit to justice, healing, and remembrance.

Events like A Dove’s Song: Remembering Our Way Home continue this spirit of witness and healing by creating spaces where stories are honored and community comes together in solidarity.

We strive to create a respectful and supportive environment for all attendees. Stories shared during the event will be treated with care and respect.
