About this Event
A New Dawn for Syria: Firsthand Insights with Mohammed Alaa Ghanem
Dear Friends and Members of the Syrian American Community in the DMV Area,
We are thrilled to announce a special event that promises to be both enlightening and inspiring. Mohammed Alaa Ghanem, a distinguished member of our community and a pivotal figure in Syrian and Syrian American civil society, has recently returned from an extraordinary month in Damascus following the collapse of the Assad regime. Mohammed Alaa's recent stay in Damascus gave him a unique vantage point to witness the liberation of Syria firsthand. He engaged extensively with civil society counterparts and had meaningful conversations with everyday citizens, far removed from the political sphere. His insights extend beyond the public celebrations to the nuanced views of the streets and the corridors of new power. During his visit, Mohammed Alaa met with senior figures in the new administration, including Mr. Ahmad al-Sharaa, the leader of the new administration; the Prime Minister of the interim government, Mr. al-Bashir, the Mufti of Syria Sheikh Osama al-Rifai, the governor of Damascus, and several influential cabinet members.
This event, titled "A New Dawn for Syria: Firsthand Insights with Mohammed Alaa Ghanem," will be held on February 5 at the Chantilly Regional Library in the heart of the DMV area.
