Join us for a special historical talk on Thursday, March 12, 2026, from 5:30pm to 6:30pm in Room 335 at Norwich City Hall.Presented by Matthew Novosad, Franklin CT's Town Historian, this program explores the lives of two local Revolutionary War veterans with deep ties to Franklin and Norwich.
This talk compares the lives and experiences of two local veterans of the Revolutionary War. Each held deep ties to Franklin and Norwich. While their activities on land and sea had much in common during the War for Independence, the two men were separated by class and race which caused their lives to diverge. This comparison illuminates the ways in which enslavement, race, and class were relevant forces in Revolutionary-era Connecticut. Additionally, this talk expands upon earlier research done on Lebbeus Quy and roots his experiences not only as a part of Norwich's history, but also as a part of Franklin's.
This event is free and open to the public
