About this Event
Following a sold-out performance at Cambridge University in September 2025, the Cambridge Nahoft Ensemble brings A Mirror to the Sky to SOAS University of London for the next step in sharing this captivating musical project.
A Mirror to the Sky presents a collection of original compositions and refined arrangements by the ensemble, inspired by the depth and emotion of Persian classical music. The performance features a beautiful blend of ‘Avaz’ (Persian vocal improvisation), the authentic tones of Ney and Oud, and the rhythmic energy of Daf and Tonbak, enriched by the warm resonance of the Double Bass.
The songs draw upon timeless Persian poetry by Rumi, Saadi, Hafez, and Sayeh, whose verses explore love, spirituality, and the human connection to nature and the divine perfectly mirrored in the ensemble’s expressive musical interpretation.
This concert offers an immersive journey through poetic melodies and intricate rhythms, bridging tradition and contemporary creativity. Join us for an evening of soulful music and cultural harmony, performed by the Cambridge Nahoft Ensemble, a celebration of Persian musical artistry at its finest.
