About this Event
Presenter: Pepper Stetler, PhD, Author and Professor of Art History, Miami University
Moderator: Laura M. Robinson, MPH, University of Rochester Medical Center
When Pepper Stetler learned that her daughter Louisa, who has Down syndrome, would be required to take periodic IQ tests to secure support in school, she asked a simple question: why? The hunt for an answer set Stetler on a winding, often dark investigation into how the IQ test came to be the "irrefutable" standard for measuring intelligence. The result of that journey is A Measure of Intelligence: One Mother's Reckoning with the IQ Test. Join us as Stetler talks about her research and how rethinking intelligence can make the world a better place.
