Drinking with a loved one is better than alone, but can the same be said for grapes? So often we shower our praises on varietals and single vineyards, but the art of the blend, whether it is different grapes, vineyards or even vintages, opens up so many doors to new flavours and harmonies.
Blending is a key part of wine production all over the world, from classic partners, such as Syrah and Viognier in Rhône or the so-often joint-at-the-hip Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, to the new and bold, and to the field blends of Portugal and beyond. Like star-crossed lovers, some grape varieties come from distant families but when blended together are a match made in heaven. This Valentines Day, come and celebrate the beautiful world of blending.
Our shop tastings start at 7.30pm and run for approximately one-and-a-half to two hours. We will taste 6-8 wines on a theme, and bread, cheese and charcuterie is provided to match with the wines. Due to the communal nature of the tasting, we are unable to cater for dietary requirements.
