And explore the therapeutic powers of play that play therapists can use to respond to children and families in play therapy sessions.

Learning Objectives:

1. Explain the history and context of Child-Centered, Theraplay, Developmental, and Adlerian theories.

2. Discuss the basis for the four theories in using directive or non-directive play therapy interventions and techniques with children and families in play therapy sessions.

3. Explore three interventions and activities for each of the theories addressed to use with children and families in play therapy sessions.
