About this Event
A Line of Water - Catherine Eunson and Mary Thomson
7pm Tuesday 9th Dec 2025
CCA Clubroom
A Line of Water was created by Catherine Eunson and Mary Thomson in response to the story of the great Victorian engineering project which brought a clean water supply to Glasgow, a city ravaged by epidemics of Cholera.
In only three years, 3000 navvies mined tunnels, built aqueducts and constructed pipelines to bring water 26 miles south from Loch Katrine.
Their work still supplies our taps via the original route which was opened in 1859.
Mary and Catherine researched and responded to different aspects of the story, and the resulting sequence merges their poems into a narrative.
Their reading of the 15 poems is accompanied by projected background images using period photographs and original drawings and paintings by Mary.
In the second half there will be a Q*A along with an open mic with readings on the theme of water. Please get in touch via info(at)scottishwriterscentre.co.uk if you would like to read.
