Area Stage will hold a heartfelt life celebration honoring the late Broadway Producer Arthur Whitelaw who was also an esteemed Area Stage’s Board of Advisors member. The cocktail reception will take place on Wednesday, September 24th, 2025, at Area Stage’s Black Box Theatre and will be followed by the unveiling of a new scholarship named after him.
The Arthur Whitelaw Scholarship, is a yearly scholarship that will sponsor college auditions costs for aspiring actors in the pursuit of a theatre degree. In lieu of flowers, the family warmly requests that guests consider making donations to support the scholarship fund.
ABOUT ARTHUR WHITELAW
Arthur Whitelaw, born on March 7th, 1940 was an esteemed Broadway Producer, Director, Actor, and Writer. From childhood he had an avid interest in the theatre which led his to work as a press agent for some time. uWhen he reached his twenties, that is when he began producing, and his first credit was the off-broadway revival of “Best Foot Forward” featuring Liza Minelli and Christopher Walken” Throughout his incredible seventy year career, he aided in bringing to life productions such as “You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown,” Butterflies are Free,” and “Best Foot Forward” Featuring Liza Minelli. His various productions on stage and screen also led him to win every major industry award. He was a true Broadway Veteran that left a lasting impact on the theatre world.
