A-Kin, the latest addition to Manchester’s vibrant dining scene, was born from a long-standing friendship and a mutual love for food. Founded by Gasim and Slowpo—two friends with nearly a decade of shared culinary passion—A-Kin offers a fresh approach to supper clubs, blending exquisite family-style dining with a relaxed, community-driven atmosphere.
Each founder brings their own distinct flair to A-Kin. Gasim, a professional chef with a history at some of Manchester’s most beloved spots like Firehouse, Jane Eyre & Maray leads the culinary side of the club. His expertise in crafting thoughtful, seasonal menus shines through every dish. Meanwhile, Slowpo, an experienced event organizer and a well-known DJ in Manchester’s music scene, curates the perfect atmosphere, fusing great food with an eclectic mix of music and art. Together, they’ve created a space where people can connect, share, and experience more than just a meal.
At its core, A-Kin is about bringing people together. The supper club focuses on creating an intimate, social dining experience where guests can sit together, share food, and meet new people. The family-style service encourages conversation, connection, and a genuine sense of community, making every meal feel like a gathering of old friends.
For their inaugural event on Wednesday, 25th September, A-Kin will serve a thoughtfully curated 8-course menu, shared in groups of four. Don’t worry if you’re not booking as a group, guests will be seated together at a large communal table, ensuring a sociable and inclusive experience. Each plate is crafted with care, holding its own story, and designed to encourage conversation and enjoyment.
Event Details:
The first supper club will take place over two sessions:
- 5:00 PM - 7:30 PM
- 8:30 PM - 11:00 PM
Tickets are priced at £69 per person, which includes complimentary lager from MCR Finest. A bespoke selection of cocktails, wines, and soft drinks will be available to purchase throughout the evening.
Set Menu:
- Bread Service: Accompanied by Harissa Lime Butter & Confit Garlic with Rosemary and Tarragon Butter
- Ackee & Saltfish Vol-au-Vents: Delicate puff pastry filled with salted cod, scotch bonnet, and ackee purée
- Grilled Peach & Fried Cecina Salad: With chicory, dukkah, baby gem, and yoghurt dressing
- Goat’s Cheese & Pickled Melon Salad: Served with thyme-toasted seeds and crispy chicken skin
- Za’atar Yuzu Chicken: Brined and marinated chicken with caper butter sauce and heritage tomato salad
- Crushed Fried Potatoes: Crispy potatoes served on tzatziki with chili oil and micro coriander
- Smoked Mackerel: Whole, in-house smoked mackerel with tabbouleh and yoghurt dressing
- Pistachio Basque Cheesecake: A collaboration with Black Milk to end on a sweet note
