On Sunday, May 3, 2026, the Palisades Symphony & Chorale presents César Franck’s rarely performed Rédemption—a sweeping spiritual work for full orchestra, large choir, soprano soloist, and narrator.Franck called it a poème-symphonie: a vast musical journey from darkness toward grace, shaped by rich orchestral color, radiant choral writing, and a powerful message of hope. Narration will be delivered in English by acclaimed actor and voice artist Will Collyer, while the solo and choral sections will be sung in the original French.
As a cornerstone of the Southern California arts community and one of the state’s oldest and most respected community ensembles since 1966, the Palisades Symphony & Chorale serves as the musical engine for this monumental event, bringing together a vibrant collective of skilled musicians to provide the massive "large forces" and choral power demanded by Franck’s exultant score.
Featuring Siyeon Kim, soprano, and conducted by Dr. Maxim Kuzin, this is a rare chance to hear one of the nineteenth century’s most ambitious and moving large-scale works.
