A Jazzy Christmas with Vivacity!
Featuring Xylophonist Heather Thorn and the Vivacity band with special guest Australian/NYC based saxophonist Adrian Cunningham. Vivacity brings you the ultimate holiday concert when you can sing and swing along to beloved holiday classics for all ages!
Adrian Cunningham is an award winning multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, and world traveller. Originally from Sydney Australia and now based in New York, he is proving to be one of his country's top exports. With fluent command of the saxophones, clarinet, and flute, he is one of the finest multi-instrumentalists in Jazz. Proof of this is in the company he keeps, having recently recorded with Jazz luminaries Jeff Hamilton, John Clayton, and Ted Rosenthal with his latest recording Jazz Speak (Arbors), which broke the top 20 in the US national Jazzweek charts. Adrian performs with Wycliffe Gordon and his International All Stars, and from 2014-2017 he led the saxophone section with the Grammy-award winning Vince Giordano and the Nighthawks, a 1920s-swing orchestra in New York City. Cunningham has been called “indispensable” to New York jazz.
Heather Thorn is a world-renowned xylophonist who has performed at well-respected jazz venues including the New Orleans Jazz Museum and as the headline act for Festival I Love Jazz in 2019 and again in 2022 in Brazil. She was a featured guest soloist along with her band for the Orlando Philharmonic Holiday Pops concert in 2021, performing brilliant arrangements by Michael Andrew and Dave Mackenzie. Locally, Heather performs at the Blue Bamboo Center for the Arts, Timucua, the Sea World Christmas Celebration, Suncoast Jazz Festival, New Smyrna Beach Jazz Festival, and with the Walt Disney Orchestra.
This show will also feature Arbor Records superstar James Suggs on trumpet, local jazz luminaries:
