In association with the charity Remembering the Accused Witches of Scotland, Carnegie Library is proud to present an exhibition exploring the history of the accused witches of Scotland, focusing on the accused witches of South Ayrshire specifically. This well-researched trip back in time highlights such figures as Agnes Campbell, Patrick Lowrie, and Rev William Adair. This exhibition also delves into the historical accuracy of local legends Cutty Sark and Maggie Osbourne and provides a timeline of how the “Witch Panics” developed in Scotland. A must for all history buffs! This is a free, drop-in exhibition during library opening hours. All are welcome, but please be aware that some descriptions of historical tortures may be upsetting for the young or sensitive.
