Join Zelman Symphony for the conclusion to their 2024 season "Year of the Violin".The Mendelssohn Violin Concerto is one of the best-loved violin concertos of all time. Emerging violin soloists see playing it as an essential part of their coming of age. Thirteen-year-old Nicholas Feng, the latest Australian aspiring violinist to follow this path, will return to Melbourne from his studies at the Yehudi Menuhin School near London just for this concert!
We will be delighted to start the concert with the world premiere of Eidyllion for Orchestra, a new work commissioned by Zelman Symphony from foremost Australian composer Linda Kouvaras.
Prokofiev wrote his Symphony no. 5 at the end of World War II. He is quoted as saying that it is “a hymn to free and happy Man, to his mighty powers, his pure and noble spirit.” This magnificent symphony offers a wonderfully dramatic conclusion to Zelman Symphony’s 2024 season.
