Come and Join “golden toned” tenor Michael Petruccelli and wonderful collaborative pianist Andrea Katz for their concert “A French Romantic” at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Melbourne. Much of the music featured in the program was written during the Belle Époque, a time many considered to be a continental European Golden Age. It was an era of progress, innovation, and optimism in Europe, with France in particular, becoming the cultural centre of global influence. Due to the relative social and political stability, the arts flourished, with some truly stunning music composed and extraordinary poetry written. And through the amalgamation of these texts and music, an exploration of intense emotion, such as love, ecstasy, longing, loneliness, among many others was able to occur.
Michael and Andrea can’t wait to share with you a wonderful selection of song from the Belle Époque and beyond, with beautiful melodies by Gabriel Fauré, Reynaldo Hahn, Henri Duparc, Claude Debussy and Francis Poulenc.
Tickets are $30 for adults, $25 for concession.
