About this Event
Join us at Newlyn Art Gallery for this immersive, hands-on workshop led by The Seaweed Institute, combining beach exploration, creative making, and artist insight.
The day begins with a collective morning walk along the shore to discover storm-cast seaweeds, learning how to identify and responsibly gather specimens suitable for pressing. Returning to the gallery, participants will create their own delicate seaweed pressings, guided by The Seaweed Institute, using traditional techniques inspired by historic examples.
The session also includes a talk from our main gallery exhibiting artist Abigail Reynolds, who will share how seaweed has played a central role in the making of some of her recent work, offering a unique insight into her artistic process.
