About this Event
Labor and Peace Activist Chris Smalls joins us on the Busboys and Poets stage. He has recently returned from joining the Gaza Freedom Flotilla to break the siege on Gaza and the Israeli imposed starvation of the over 2 million Palestinians living there. The Israeli military intercepted the Handala, the boat carrying medicine, baby formula and other necessities and detained its 21 crew members, including Smalls. Being the only Black crew member, he was singled out and attacked physically due to the color of his skin.
Smalls calls Israel’s assault and starvation of Gaza a “working-class issue,” and will speak about the intersectionality of the war on Gaza with the global struggle for justice and freedom.
He will be joined by social justice activist and co-founder of A.C.T.O.R. (A Continuing Talk on Race), Pamela Pinnock. FREE AND OPEN TO ALL
