Energy of Usui Reiki was channeled by Mikao Usui in the early 1800’s, after his experience of witnessing horrific suffering from a major earthquake in the Tokyo area. He questioned ‘what does this life mean when there is so much suffering in living?’ This question is something many of us are holding in our hearts as we move through this tumultuous time in humanity.
We gather on February 10th at SOVERN LA for healing, and in contemplation of what it means to love one another.
February is a Black history month, while the world call February 14th Valentine’s Day.
Although there were several Christian martyrs named Valentine, the day may have taken its name from a priest who was martyred about 270 CE by the emperor Claudius II Gothicus. According to legend, the priest signed a letter “from your Valentine” to his jailer’s daughter, whom he had befriended and, by some accounts, healed from blindness. Other accounts hold that it was St. Valentine of Terni, a bishop, for whom the holiday was named, though it is possible the two saints were actually one person. Another common legend states that St. Valentine defied the emperor’s orders and secretly married couples to spare the husbands from war. It is for this reason that his feast day is associated with love.
If we were to consider all of this, we can start understand this ‘coincidence’ of the Valentine’s Day situated at the middle of Black History Month to not be so; it is a call for us to embrace what it means to truly love beyond otherness.
