A community screening and panel discussion of the documentary Invisible Nation. A reception with director Vanessa Hope and producer Ted Hope to follow.

With unprecedented access to Taiwan's sitting head of state, director Vanessa Hope investigates the election and tenure of Tsai Ing-wen, the first female president of Taiwan.


Vanessa Hope is an award-winning director and producer. She produced a number of acclaimed films in China including the Berlin International Film Festival selection, Wang Quanan's The Story Of Ermei and the Cannes Film Festival selection, Chantal Akerman's Tombee De Nuit Sur Shanghai. Additional producing credits include the Academy award shortlisted feature documentary, "William Kunstler: Disturbing The Universe" and "Who We Are: A Chronicle of Racism in America." Prior to her film career, Vanessa worked on foreign policy issues at the Council on Foreign Relations.


Ted Hope's producing credits include Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Wedding Banquet, Eat, Drink, Man, Woman, American Splendor, In the Bedroom, and The Ice Storm to name but a few. As the former President of Amazon Studios, his films (including Manchester by the Sea and The Salesman) earned 19 Oscar nominations and 5 wins. As an independent producer, Ted's films have received 25 Oscar nominations and 6 wins. Ted helped launch the feature film careers of Ang Lee, Nicole Holofcener, Hal Hartley, Todd Field and many more.
