Rekindle Your Creative Confidence: Summer Adult Art Club
Have you ever forgoed your creative passion due to societal pressures? Are you feeling uninspired or stuck in your daily routine? Do you feel a desire to rekindle your creativity, or wondered what it would feel like to make with your hands again? If you answered yes to any of these questions, best believe this one of a kind 8-week art club program could offer you an answer through direct experience!
Come join us at Young Guns Studio for an immersive 8 Sunday adult program! Unplug through art-making and learn to create through experimentation and play; reconnect with your confidence to make mistakes and be playful without overthinking. Explore your artistic potential with prompt driven, open-ended, beginner friendly drawing and painting assignments, intentionally designed to help you express your inner thoughts through artistic language—a space for you to unearth the joy of being spontaneous, getting messy, and creating freely.
Participants will explore a series of stimulating prompts and learn to find their artistic voice through working with various media. Each 2-hour studio session is designed to inform and enrich participants’ technical understanding of a specific drawing medium, and help them apply their skills through digital presentations, in-person demos, and active studio guidance.
What is explored across the 8 sessions:
Session 1 — July 5th, Drawing What You Feel: This assignment develops your visual sensitivity, encourages introspection, and trains you to recognize how everyday perceptions can carry deep emotional content. ephemeral sensations into visual and written form.
Session 2 — July 12th, Mapping Feeling Through Surface: This assignment further expands your observation skill by replicating and emotionally classifying material surfaces, which will form the basis for symbolic representation skills.
Session 3 — July 19th, Drawing Through Senses: This assignment brings your focus back to within by challenging you to detach from visual habits and retrain your drawing instincts through physical, sensory engagement.
Session 4 — July 26th, Drawing with Kinetic Chaos: This assignment is more experimental in nature, as it engages physical motion, energy, and instability as collaborative forces in the creative process, from which you will learn to analyze emergent patterns, implied forms, or compositional rhythms.
Session 5 — August 2nd, Context as a Lens of Meaning: This collage assignment cultivates your intentional composition skills through constraint-based design.
Session 6 — August 9th, Break the Tool, Break the Habit: This assignment disrupts habitual mark-marking and helps you discover new expressive possibilities through tool modification and motion, pushing you to relinquish control and embrace the unknown.
Session 7 — August 16th, Fail Better: Revisiting Abandoned Work: This assignment reframes the concept of failure as a source of possibility, encouraging you to critically engage with unresolved work to give it a new life through redirection and reinvention.
Session 8 — August 23rd, Share and Connect: The goal for the final week is for you curate an intimate and intentional exhibit with fellow participants, allowing you to share your work and notice new potentials through the lens of others.
