7th Annual Bon Secours St. Francis Human Trafficking Seminar Join our Bon Secours St. Francis Health system for our 7th Annual Human Trafficking seminar entitled: "Defending Dignity: Responding to Human Trafficking and Trauma" which will take place at Grace Church off of Pelham Road.
We are excited to welcome Elizabeth Bowman, PhD who teaches at Gallaudet University and researches around the intersection of child welfare and sex trafficking, and around vulnerable populations and trafficking. She has a specialization in trauma-informed care and is a survivor of minor domestic sex trafficking.
We will also have a panel discussion with agencies involved in supporting survivors of trafficking and a presentation from the SC State Attorney General's office on human trafficking in South Carolina.
About this Event

Join our Bon Secours St. Francis Health system for our 7th Annual Human Trafficking seminar entitled: "Defending Dignity: Responding to Human Trafficking and Trauma" which will take place at Grace Church off of Pelham Road.

We are excited to welcome Elizabeth Bowman, PhD who teaches at Gallaudet University and researches around the intersection of child welfare and sex trafficking, and around vulnerable populations and trafficking. She has a specialization in trauma-informed care and is a survivor of minor domestic sex trafficking.

South Carolina State Attorney General Alan Wilson will also be addressing our seminar with remarks on the state of human trafficking within South Carolina and our nation, and efforts that are being conducted to eradicate this evil.

We will also have a panel discussion with agencies involved in supporting survivors of trafficking and a presentation from the SC State Attorney General's office on human trafficking in South Carolina.

Info: We are pleased to welcome Alan Wilson, the SC State Attorney General, who will provide remarks regarding the state of Human Trafficking in South Carolina, and efforts that have been undertaken by the State Government to eradicate and address human trafficking.

Trauma Informed Care and Human Trafficking
Host: Elizabeth Bowman, PhD

Info: M. Elizabeth Bowman, PhD, LICSW, LCSW-C, is an Assistant Professor at Gallaudet University in the Department of Social Work. Dr. Bowman earned her doctoral degree from Catholic University in 2020 and her Master of Social Work Degree from Gallaudet University in 2009. She holds clinical social work licensure in 4 states and is fluent in American Sign Language which is utilized for direct clinical practice. She is also a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-200) and utilizes expressive arts in a holistic approach to well-being and mental health.

Dr. Bowman has a specialization in trauma-informed care and earned her Advanced Clinical Trauma Certification in 2021. She is a survivor of both CSEC and DMST, and founded a nonprofit in the Washington, D.C. area to support survivors of sex trafficking, the Restoring Ivy Collective.
