Saturday, February 22, 2025, at 7:30 pm, join us for our Seventh Annual Black History Month concert collaboration! We are thrilled to be back at Immanuel UCC, 99 South Waverly Street in Shillington, for Vox Philia's Seventh Annual Black History Month concert. Each year the number of performers has grown, and this year we join with choirs from Kutztown University, Muhlenberg College, Penn State Berks, and Berks Youth Chorus, as well as Berks Sinfonietta. Every group will perform its own set, focusing on music by black composers, and the concert will end with two pieces sung by the combined choir, with over 100 singers.
Vox Philia will perform "The Gift to Sing" by one of our regular tenors (and Lancaster County based composer) Lyndon Gehman (its premiere performance), as well as a fantastic setting of Paul Laurence Dunbar's powerful poem "Why the Caged Bird Sings," by Jake Runestad.
This collaborative concert is always a highlight of our musical year and we look forward to having you with us.
The concert takes place at Immanuel UCC, located at 99 S. Waverly St., Shillington, PA 19607.
Tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for children. Tickets can be purchased at the door, or online at: https://berkssinfonietta.org/concert/seventh-annual-black-history-month-concert/
