306 hounds joined us in 2025. Can we beat 400 in 2026?! Join us at the Wells-next-the-Sea Beach Cafe for a waddle along the beach towards Holkham.Parking charges apply. A full day is £13.50 (this does allow free parking on the same day in Holkham Park).
Note there is also a HEIGHT RESTRICTION in place at entrance to car park. I believe this is 220cm, so fine for most vehicles.
Access to the beach is via a short pinewood walk then via a ramp. The beach is sandy but firm. We've had Bassets in buggies and trolleys managed it.
We leave the beach at Holkham where there's a cafe, toilets and a chance to recharge before returning back to Wells at your own leisure either back along the beach, through the pinewood forest or along the Norfolk Coastal Path.
It's approx 2.5 miles along the beach, and 2 miles back along the coastal path. Do as much or as little as you want or can manage.
Car park has capacity for 400+ cars but does fill up quickly so would recommend arriving on the early side and enjoying a sausage roll from the cafe whilst being glared at by 300+ Basset Hounds!!
