6th XELC National English Language Festival 2025 organized by the Xaverian English Language Club, will once again bring together young minds at St. Francis Xavier's Girls' School and College. Since its foundation in 2008, XELC has successfully hosted five remarkable festivals, and this year, the tradition continues with even greater enthusiasm. The festival has become a cornerstone for students to come together in an environment that encourages public speaking and fosters a deep appreciation for the English language. XELC will always support the latent talent.

1. Guesstures – (Solo)

The Unlimited Game of Charades Meets Speed and Laughter!
Are you ready for a thrilling ride of quick thinking, fun, and laughter? Our signature segment is sure to bring out the fun and excitement.
• Insights:
1. One team member will receive some words or names of some different objects. She/He has to describe by speaking each word without using the actual name, guiding their partner to the correct answer.
2. The other team member must guess the objects based solely on their teammate’s descriptions.
3. We have a total of 50 slots available, distributed as follows:
- 20 slots for the Junior Group.
- 20 slots for the Secondary Group.
- 10 slots for Higher Secondary Group.
• Once the slots are filled, we will announce the selected teams on our event page.

2. English Song – [Solo]

Our Signature Segment: Discover the Magic of Music at the 6th XELC National English Language Festival 2024
Presenting our signature segment, a unique opportunity for participants to showcase their musical talent by choosing an English song that speaks to their heart.
This is more than just a performance — it's a celebration of artistry, emotion, and connection through music.
• Insights:
- This is an individual round, lasting for one cycle.
- Participants are free to select any English song for their performance.
- Each performance should be between 3 to 4 minutes.

• Please be aware that any content considered offensive - whether related to race, religion, sexuality, or the objectification of any gender will result in immediate disqualification.

1. Poem Recitation – (Kindergarten | Kids | Primary)
• Here are the selected poems for all groups -

Join us for a mesmerizing evening of poetry that touches hearts, stimulates minds, and showcases the true power of language.
• Insights
- A solo segment consisting of one round.
- Participants will have to recite the given poem.

2. Extempore Speech – (Junior | Secondary | Higher Secondary)
Embrace the Extempore Speech challenge! Test your verbal powers by speaking spontaneously on given topics.
Display your adeptness in articulating ideas, effective communication, and tackling unforeseen subjects. Regardless of your oratory experience, this exercise hones your quick
thinking and eloquence. Step onto the stage, gather thoughts, and let words flow in this dynamic test of impromptu speaking.
• Insights –
- Extempore speech is a solo segment consisting of a single round.
- Participants will have to give a speech based on the given topic.
- Each participant has a total of 3 minutes for his/her speech.
- The use of inappropriate language is strictly prohibited.

3. Language Test – (Junior | Secondary | Higher Secondary)
The "Language Test" is an engaging and dynamic segment designed to assess one's proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking skills. As a haven for language enthusiasts, it offers an exciting opportunity to put your linguistic prowess to the test.

Whether you're eager to showcase your eloquent speaking abilities, demonstrate your impeccable writing finesse, or exhibit your attentive listening skills, this platform is tailor-made for individuals seeking to challenge and refine their language talents.
Embark on a journey that embraces both knowledge and English fluency, as you immerse yourself in an arena that invites your inner grammar perfectionist to shine.

• Insights -
- Grammar Challenge Round: Participants will encounter a passage with grammatical errors in the first round. Their task is to identify and correct these errors.
- The top 10 will be selected for the final Round.
- Native Reading Showcase: In the final round, the top 10 participants will exhibit their English literature skills by reading a passage in a native manner. [The test will be executed in a British accent]

4. Spelling Bee – (Kindergarten | Kids | Primary | Junior | Secondary | Higher Secondary)
Spellbound: Where Words Shine
A spelling bee is a contest designed to evaluate participants' spelling and language skills. Typically involving students, the event requires competitors to spell words aloud to showcase their abilities.
• Insights –
- The competition has two parts: a written test and an oral final.
- In the written test, participants have 30 minutes to spell words dictated by the organizers.
- The top 10 spellers from the written test will move on to the oral final.

• Written Test Details:
- Each contestant gets a question paper to complete within the specified timeframe.


5. Movie Quiz – (Junior | Secondary | Higher Secondary)
Ready for the ultimate movie trivia challenge?
We are pleased to invite participants to test their knowledge of cinema in our upcoming quiz competition, covering a wide range of films from animations to epic sagas. Join us for an exciting challenge!

Dive into Book Quest, an exciting and intellectually stimulating segment! In this team-based challenge, participants will delve into a selection of suggested books tailored for different educational levels:
- Junior Level ( Class 6-8 )
1. The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
A captivating tale about a young shepherd named Santiago, who embarks on an adventure to discover his personal legend. It's easy to read and encourages readers to pursue their dreams.
2. Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone by J.K.Rowling
The enchanting story introduces us to Harry Potter, an ordinary boy who discovers his magical heritage. This immersive fantasy series not only captivates young readers but also promotes themes of friendship and bravery.
- Secondary Level: ( Class 9-10 )
1. The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides
A psychological thriller that keeps readers on the edge of their seats. It revolves around a woman who stops speaking after a violent act and an art therapist determined to uncover her story.
Perfect for older students seeking intrigue and depth.

Each team, consisting of three members, will be assigned one book from their respective level. Teams will need to thoroughly read and analyze their assigned book, focusing on its themes, characters, and underlying messages. The ultimate goal is to showcase their comprehension and interpretation of the book through engaging presentations and discussions.

2. Drama Theatrics – [A team of 3 mates]

Step into the spotlight with the Drama Theatrics segment of the 6th XELC National English Language Festival 2024! In this dynamic, team-based event, participants will bring their dramatic skills to the forefront.
- Each team of three members will perform a short drama. The entire performance must fit within a 3-4 minute time limit.
• Insights -
- Performance Duration: The total performance time is 3-4 minutes.
- Content Guidelines: The use of inappropriate language or content is strictly prohibited.
Teams will be evaluated on their creativity, expression, and how effectively they convey the assigned topic through their performance. Prepare to engage and captivate with your dramatic prowess and storytelling abilities!

3. IQ Test – [A team of 3 mates]
(Junior | Secondary | Higher Secondary)
Introducing the IQ Test segment of the Xaverian English Language Festival—an exhilarating and intellectually challenging event designed to test your general knowledge and cognitive skills!

• Insights -
- In this team-based competition, teams of three members will tackle a series of questions that assess both general knowledge and IQ levels. The questions will span a range of topics, from logic puzzles and pattern recognition to trivia and problem-solving scenarios.
- Each team will need to demonstrate their collective knowledge, quick thinking, and analytical abilities. Prepare for a dynamic and thought-provoking experience that will push your mental acuity to new heights!

1. Free Art – [Solo]

From vivid strokes to abstract marvels, each piece embodies limitless human ingenuity. Celebrate artistic liberation on canvas, screens, or any medium. Embrace joy, explore new realms, and witness unconventional visual wonders.
Join the boundless celebration of art, where inspiration flows and creativity soars.

• Paper size: - Maximum Size: 13 inches x 10 inches
- Minimum Size: 10 inches x 8 inches
• Base: - Art Paper [Any preferences]
• Insights –
- Participants have to mention their Name, Institute's name, Group & Contact Number behind the base of Free Art.
- Participants will have to submit their Free Art on the submission day (1st Day of the festival) within the given time.
- Participants will not have to draw their Free Art off the cuff.
- Each participant can submit a maximum of 2 Arts.

2. Mandala – [Solo]
(Junior | Secondary | Higher Secondary)
Step into the enchanting realm of Mandala, where vibrant colors and intricate patterns blend in perfect harmony. Rooted in ancient traditions, a mandala is a sacred circle that embodies both spiritual depth and artistic elegance. Each design invites you to explore your consciousness, bringing tranquility and introspection. Mandala bridges art and spirituality, offering a canvas for creativity and inner reflection, whether you're captivated by its allure or seeking a meditative journey.

• Paper Size: - Maximum Size: 11 inches x 11 inches
- Minimum Size: 8 inches x 8 inches
• Base: Cartridge
• Insights
- Participants have to mention their Name, the Institute's Name, and the Group behind the base of the Mandala.
- Participants will have to submit their Mandala on the submission day (1st day of the festival) within the given time.
- Participants will not have to draw their mandala off the cuff.
- Each participant can submit a maximum of 2 Mandalas.

3. Wall Magazine – [Team Based – A team of 3 mates]
(Junior | Secondary | Higher Secondary)
Unveil the essence of creativity with our captivating Wall Magazine. Each page is a canvas, adorned with a tapestry of intriguing articles, stunning visuals, and inspiring stories. Delve into a world where ideas know no bounds, as we curate a symphony of knowledge, culture, and imagination on our vibrant pages.
• Base Size:
- Maximum Size: Height 6.5 feet | Width 4 feet
- Minimum Size: Height 4 feet | Width 3.5 feet
• Substructure: The base or substructure should be made of a cork sheet.

• Insights
- Participants have to mention their team member's name, institution name, Group & Contact Number behind the base or material of Wall magazine.
- Participants will have to submit their Wall Magazine on the submission day (1st day of the festival) within the given time.
- The team members can apply from the same or different institution.
- Each team will consist of 3 members. If any team participates with more or less than 3 people, their wall magazine will be disqualified.
- If the size and material of the wall magazine exclude the details, the wall magazine will be non-eligible for submission.
For the Wall Magazine segment, participants will have the flexibility to choose preferences for their wall magazine without a specific theme.

4. Mobile Photography – [Solo]
(Junior | Secondary | Higher Secondary)
Discover storytelling through the lens of photography, freezing moments in a vivid tapestry beyond words. With light, shadow, and color, paint emotions and tales that span generations. Photography is more than images, it's a medium of preserved memories and extraordinary revelations. Whether seasoned or aspiring, each click unveils a new visual narrative in life's journey.

• Insights –
- Participants are expected to send their photos to XELC's email: [email protected]
- Each participant can submit a maximum of 2 photographs.
- Participants must Mention their Name, Group, Institution, and Contact number in the description.

• Rules & Regulations –
- Uniform & ID Cards are compulsory for all participants.
- Campus Ambassadors are not pressured to wear uniforms but to dress up decently.
- Participants must show their registration slip or Bkash Payment Screenshot/Print or Registration Confirmation Mail to enter in the venue.
- Participants must maintain decency and community guidelines.
- Any kind of persecution and pestering or harassment will result in disqualification and the participant will be escorted off the institution campus.
- Visitors or guidance are not allowed inside the venue except during visiting hours.
- Each participant must be present at least one hour before their events to confirm their registration.
- All participants must respect the judge's decisions. No complaints will be granted regarding the results.
- Any kind of change or modification can be made to any rule by the authority if and when necessary.
- Participants must refrain from using any kind of offensive words toward any race, age & appearance in their submission work and during the festival.
- Participants must inform the check-in volunteers before going out of the institution premises after they have participated in all of their events.

• Other Information –
- There will be an emergency booth for any kind of injuries, problems, or information during the festival.
- Participants have to pay an amount for registration.
- In the team segment, each team member has to register separately.
