The 6th MyFriendTerri.com Charity Golf Event on Sunday, October 6, 2024 at Fellows Creek Golf Club in Canton, Mich. Our theme this year is under October skies, we hope to rocket to a cure!
Terri is a true warrior – living with ALS since late 2014! Terri and her amazing husband and caregiver, Jeff, are living their best lives still in Canton, Mich. The biggest change in their lives is the new title of grandparents! 🙂 In the fall, Terri will reach a milestone of living with ALS for 10 years. Now, this isn’t a milestone we wish to relish, but this humble author wishes to share how unbelievably proud I am to witness her fight, along with the awesome care she receives from Jeff. It’s not been an easy road, but we don’t witness the struggles.
Terri keeps a positive attitude with her public posts. She reads a ton of books. She takes daily strolls around her neighborhood, weather permitting. She consumes movies and TV like nobody’s business (ask for recommendations – she’s got ’em!). But it hasn’t been easy. ALS has made Terri’s digestive system a mess for the last 18 months or so. She’s learned what foods she can have, and unfortunately it’s not a long list. Going out to eat isn’t an easy feat any longer. Long trips are very difficult, but Terri and Jeff have attempted a few in the last few years.
In early 2024, Terri and Jeff made the decision to secure additional home care services during the business week to assist Jeff as he continues to work a full time job at La-z-boy. Their home care aid, Micole, has been a welcome resource and friend to Terri and Jeff. They are very grateful for her help. These home care services are extremely helpful, but they are not covered by insurance at all. These fees are equivalent to another mortgage for the Saenz Family, which is why we are once again hosting our annual MyFriendTerri.com golf tournament. All proceeds raised will go to Terri & Jeff to support her medical and home care services. Thank you for supporting Terri to help fund her medical care and support services!
The fee to golf remains the same at $125 per golfer. Teams of four are $500. The golf fee includes registration welcome at 8:00 am with coffee/pastries. We will have a shotgun start at 9:00 am. You will enjoy 18 holes of golf, scramble format with cart, course contests, and gift prizes. Lunch & soft drinks will be served on the course.
Following the golf is a fun dinner reception with a fabulous prize raffle, full dinner, and a cash bar. Ticket to attend the dinner only for non-golfers is $50 per person. Terri and Jeff will be at the banquet ready to thank you for your support again this year!
This event will benefit Terri and the 501c3 non-profit ALS Therapy Development Institute in Boston. This research firm is dedicated solely to find treatments and cures for ALS. Learn more about TDI at www.ALS.net. Sponsorships are available for lunch, dinner, and individual holes.
