About this Event
The Alamo City Electrathon (ACE) Invitational was started in 2017 with 6 high school teams participating. By 2019 ACE doubled in participation welcoming from across the region including Boerne, Lytle, Northside ISD, San Antonio College, and St Phillip’s College. In 2021 SoTx was pleased to host ACE at the Alamodome with 20 registered teams from across the nation.
Electrathon is a combination of the words Electric and Marathon. Electrathon is a one-hour endurance event for single passenger electric powered cars using no more than 73lb of lead acid batteries.
The Alamo City Electrathon (ACE Race) is a National Sanctioned Electrathon Event with Electrathon America, one of twelve nationwide. This event is exclusive to students enrolled in academic institutions with a STEM/CTE curriculum. Teams are required to abide by the rules and regulations in the Electrathon America Handbook and ACE addendum.
Teams will go through a series of electrical, mechanical, driver, and dynamic inspections the Friday before race day. On race day teams will participate in two one-hour races, the team with the most laps combined from the two races wins. ACE Race will take place on April 19-20, 2024, at the Freeman Expo Hall.
Event is open to the public. Free admission.
