After releasing his first studio album, Free 6LACK, 6LACK gained a lot of recognition coming from a fairly diverse audience consisting of mostly younger individuals. At only 27 years old, 6LACK leverages his understanding of the way that the millennial generation thinks to release records that ignite strong emotional responses. He has worked with multiple music labels, the latest of which is LoveRenaissance and Interscope Records, bringing him in the loop with hip-hop legends like Jimmy Iovine, Dr. Dre and many other notable names who represent the Universal Music Group. 6LACK followed up on his first album with East Atlanta Love Letter, which paid respect to his home state and featured many stars from the industry, including Khalid, Ty Dolla Sign, J. Cole, Offset and Future.

6LACK Conquering Through Versatility and Emotion

6LACK, legally known as Ricardo Valdez Valentine, was born and raised in Atlanta. He dropped out of Valdosta State University in 2011 to pursue his musical dream by signing a record deal with Strong Arm Records. After facing a lot of financial adversity and reaching a point where he spent nights at the studio or on the street, he redirected his career by joining the Spillage Village. Soon afterward, he received recognition from Rolling Stone magazine when he was included on the list of 10 New Artists You Need to Know. Subsequently, the release of Free 6LACK saw him reach No. 34 on the Billboard 200 chart in the US. Additionally, the lead single of the album, Prblms, went platinum and reached the No. 73 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Following his widespread success based on his versatile talents in the area of writing, singing and rapping, he joined another industry superstar, The Weeknd, on tour across North America.
