About this Event
Get ready to have a laugh and become immersed in the world of Kyōgen, a 650-year old form of traditional comedy in Japan! Translating to “mad words”, Kyōgen’s aspects include comical stories from daily life with a touch of satire aimed against the samurai class who were the main audience of the performances. This unique cultural event hosted in cooperation with the Theatre of Yugen will feature Kyōgen performances in English and a chance to hear from veteran performers in a fireside chat.
Start the evening with humerous live performances followed by a fireside chat with performers who will share their fascinating backgrounds and experiences in the traditional performing art. Guests will also be able to network afterwards and enjoy some refreshments!
Don’t miss this opportunity to enjoy Kyōgen in English in San Francisco and talk to veteran actors to learn more about the traditional comedy form!
