Celebrate America’s 250th birthday in historic downtown Fredericksburg by taking Historic Fredericksburg Foundation, Inc.’s 55th Annual Candlelight Tour. Step back in time for a colonial holiday experience while learning about the people and places that enrich the story of our historic city at the most magical time of year!
Visit the city’s iconic colonial sites, each beautifully decorated in authentic, historic fashion. Walk in the footsteps of American patriots, including Generals George Washington, George Weedon, and Hugh Mercer, and other local revolutionaries.
Indulge in the holiday season with our special ticket cocktail party (6-8PM)! For $75 dollars, you’ll tour the Historic Smithfield mansion (Fredericksburg Country Club), home to the Brooke and Pratt families where General Washington and his mother visited. Included with admission are two drink tickets and access to an array of appetizers. Step back in time with historic reenactors in the festive front parlors! Space is limited, so get your tickets while they are still available!
The 2025 Candlelight Tour highlights the sites and stories of 18th-century Fredericksburg, featuring Mary Washington’s House, Fielding Lewis’s 1749 store, the James Monroe Museum, St. George’s Episcopal Church and cemetery, the 1785 silversmith’s house—now home to the Fredericksburg Center for the Creative Arts, and the circa-1770 Richard Johnston Inn. Additional tour stops across the city will mark important places on Fredericksburg’s Colonial-era landscape and share some of the history that fueled local residents’ commitment to the cause. A ticket is valid for both days of the tour – guests may come and go as time allows.
Revenues generated from the event’s ticket, merchandise, and advertising sales support HFFI’s mission to protect, preserve, and revitalize the historic built environment and cultural historic resources of the Fredericksburg area, through education, advocacy, preservation-related programs and activities.
HFFI is a certified 501(c)(3) organization.
