Celebrate America’s 250th birthday in historic downtown Fredericksburg by taking Historic Fredericksburg Foundation, Inc.’s 55th Annual Candlelight Tour. Step back in time for a colonial Christmas experience while learning about the people and places that enrich the story of our historic city at the most magical time of year!
Visit the city’s iconic colonial sites, each beautifully decorated in authentic, historic fashion. Walk in the footsteps of American patriots, including George Washington and Generals George Weedon and Hugh Mercer, along with many less famous revolutionaries.
The 2025 Candlelight Tour highlights the sites and stories of 18th-century Fredericksburg, Featuring Mary Washington's House, Fielding Lewis’s 1749 store, the James Monroe Museum and Library, a 1785 silversmith’s house—now home to the Fredericksburg Creative Center for the Arts, and the circa-1760s Richard Johnston Inn. Additional tour stops across the city will mark important places on Fredericksburg’s Colonial-era landscape and share some of the history that fueled local residents’ commitment to the cause.
Revenues generated from the event’s ticket, merchandise, and advertising sales support HFFI’s mission to protect, preserve, and revitalize the historic built environment and cultural historic resources of the Fredericksburg area, through education, advocacy, preservation-related programs and activities.
