The Auckland Folk Festival is New Zealand's largest folk music and dance festival. Come and celebrate the 52nd annual festival at the Kumeū Showgrounds on Auckland Anniversary Weekend.One of the oldest folk festivals in the Southern Hemisphere brings multiple stages of exceptional artists from here at home in Aotearoa and from around the globe.
We’ll be spoiled for choice as some of the best traditional and contemporary folk musicians and folk dancers come together to showcase our amazing genre. Whatever your taste in folk music there will be something for you to savour. If you want to participate in one of the black board concerts or workshops, so much the better. If you’d rather dance the night away, then there are venues for you. And in the wee small hours don’t forget to wander round and catch some of the magic jam sessions and sing-alongs.
Food trucks will be cooking up a storm all weekend, offering up a wide range of options, along with something to quench your thirst. Our Kids Stage and Zone is growing year by year.
To absorb the friendly family vibe, try camping for the weekend. Immerse yourself in the centre of things, or choose a quiet camping area. And if you are not a natural camper, Kumeū is close enough to Auckland to come out each day. Children under 10 are free.
